Pen-rhiw-Ifor photo

Abandoned coal workings

An entire landscape to the north of Blaenavon has been created by man in his search for coal and other minerals. This view is looking into the Brecon Beacons National Park through shale spoil from the Middle Coal Measures. Much of the area forms a part of Blaenavon Industrial Landscape World Heritage Site.
